Russians demand up to $500 from people wishing to leave the occupied south

At the Russian checkpoint in Vasilyevka, the occupiers demand from people who want to leave the occupied regions of southern Ukraine from 100 to 500 dollars for leaving.

Mayor of Melitopol Ivan Fedorov announced this on the air of the telethon on August 4 .

Vasilyevka is a city in the Melitopol region, through which you can travel to the non-occupied territories of the Zaporozhye region. However, the occupiers let civilian cars through very slowly, and therefore people are forced to wait under the scorching sun, which is why some even die in line..

Now at the checkpoint, according to Fedorov, 1,200 cars are waiting to exit in three separate lines.
“The first one is obviously paid. They charge people from 100 to 500 dollars for a check out without a queue, and people can leave in a day. The second is for preferential categories, people wait 3-4 days, it can include disabled people, small children, the elderly, the third is ordinary, up to 7 days of waiting, ”says the mayor.
Another problem for those who are trying to leave the occupied territories is the poor condition of the road in the so-called gray zone - due to heavy rains, the path was washed away.
"The enemy deliberately releases people who then get stuck. Thanks to our rescuers who pulled out more than 500 cars, of which 100 were trucks. Rescue operations continued for more than 12 hours,” says Fedorov.
