Scheme of illegal arms trade in Kharkiv region revealed

In the Kharkiv region, law enforcement agencies uncovered and documented a scheme of illegal arms and ammunition trafficking via the Internet, organized by a father and his son.
 
 
As the investigation established, the illegal "business" was run by a 47-year-old man, and his closest assistants were his son and two acquaintances.. The defendants kept the weapons not only at home, but also in the neighboring courtyard, where no one lived for a long time.
 
To carry out criminal activities, the "arms barons" attracted two more citizens who sent orders to customers throughout Ukraine through postal services.. In addition, two other criminals purchased weapons from the founders of the scheme and prepared them for
subsequent resale.
Men sold a large-caliber machine gun, more than one and a half thousand rounds of ammunition, AKMS-74 assault rifles, anti-tank and underbarrel
grenade launchers, F-1 grenades.
During searches in the Dnepropetrovsk, Kyiv regions, Kiev and Poltava at the places of residence of the attackers, in their cars and garages, a huge arsenal of weapons and ammunition was seized, as well as money obtained by criminal means.

All defendants were detained, they were informed of suspicion of illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives (h. 1 st. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for punishment of up to seven years in prison. The court has chosen preventive measures in the form of detention for five suspects, another accomplice will be under house arrest.
