Zelensky commented on the fake about the dismissal of the head of the SBU

On June 24, the Politico edition reported that Volodymyr Zelensky allegedly intends to dismiss Ivan Bakanov from the post of head of the SBU due to a number of unsuccessful operations and losses in Kherson.

The change in the leadership of the Security Service of Ukraine and any other law enforcement agency in the state depends on the results of their inspection, President Volodymyr Zelensky said.

Zelensky stated this at a briefing with Moldovan President Maia Sandu in Kyiv.

"As for the head of the Security Service of Ukraine: firstly, if I wanted to fire him, I would have already fired him, and secondly, we are undergoing an inspection of all law enforcement agencies now. It is precisely because of the fact that on February 24 there was a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on our land," the president said.

According to the president, "some representatives of various law enforcement agencies have disappeared somewhere, instead of being in place and protecting their state and people."

"For different reasons. All these reasons - I travel around the regions and listen to the reports myself. And therefore, the change of leadership of any law enforcement agency, I emphasize: any, depends only on this. Which is what I do," he said.

Zelensky also added that he fully supports the reform of the SBU.

"The law regarding the reform was voted in the first reading. True, this was before the war. War brings changes. We will continue (reform - IF) on the way to the EU. But I emphasize once again that we are carrying out reforms for ourselves, and not for the European Union," the president said.
