The systems are aimed in particular at suppressing satellite communications. They are also used to counter high-precision munitions with satellite navigation.. It is possible that not only GPS, but also the Russian Glonass will be suppressed in the coverage area of this electronic warfare.

"The transmitters of this electronic warfare are also mounted on elements of the civilian communications infrastructure and use electricity from the civilian network," the publication says.

The coverage area of such a transmitter is about one and a half square kilometers. That is, a hundred compactly placed matches cover about 150 square kilometers.
