Armed Forces of Ukraine with partners are looking for counteraction to Iranian missiles

The best option for countering Iranian ballistic missiles that Russia can get is to destroy the missiles at their launch site.

This was stated by the speaker of the command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat at a briefing on Monday, November 7.

"In principle, they are not creating anything new for Ukraine (Iranian missiles - ed.), because there are Iskanders that Russia has been using since the first day of the war, and this is also ballistics. But this is a new threat, as well as Shahed. Ballistic missiles need to react, it is necessary to destroy where, perhaps, where they are launched from, because with ballistics we have no effective means of combat, except for the destruction of the physical at the launch stage. Thus, I think that the top military leadership and our partners are already working on this issue, looking for effective ways to counter these new threats," he said.

According to him, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has more information about the situation with the transfer of missiles by Iran to the Russian Federation. In particular, international partners also share information with Ukrainian intelligence.

"There is no information about Iranian missiles that could potentially be transferred to Russia about how accurate these weapons are. Iran made it relatively recently, in the 2000s. The one with a range of up to 300 km and the one with a range of up to 700 km are still Soviet-era developments that Iran received from Russia and modernized somewhat ... Information on the accuracy and effectiveness of these missiles is not yet available. Let's hope it's not that scary. But there is a threat, and it needs to be counteracted," Ignat concluded.
