The government of Montenegro proposed to abolish the visa-free regime for Russians. They emphasize that since the country follows the European Union, it must be on the side of the EU in everything.
The Montenegrin edition DAN writes about this with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro.
"Montenegro is a devoted partner of the European Union, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs believes that our country should be in full solidarity with the EU in this decision, as it has been so far," the ministry said.
If the government agreed with the opinion of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, this would practically mean the introduction of visas for citizens of the Russian Federation.

The visa-free regime between Russia and Montenegro has been in effect since 2008.

The publication indicates that from June 1 to August 14, 2022. More than 48,000 citizens of the Russian Federation crossed the state border at the entrance to Montenegro, which is 15% more than in the same period of 2021.
