According to Taras Kremin, Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, he plans to apply to the Verkhovna Rada with a request to remove the duplication of information in Russian from old-style passports.

The Ombudsman pointed out that there are two forms of passports in Ukraine: biometric passports and old-style passports, in which information is recorded in Ukrainian and Russian.

Kremin emphasized that this practice does not comply with the language law, and expressed the hope that this situation will be brought into line with the law.
