Ukraine needs Marshall Plan to rebuild after war - Scholz

Before the G7 summit, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called for a Marshall Plan to rebuild Ukraine after the war with Russia.
He stated this in a government appeal, reports the Sueddeutsche Zeitung.
He noted that he was recently in Ukraine and what he saw there reminds him of photographs of German cities after the end of World War II.
"And just like war-torn Europe, Ukraine today needs a Marshall Plan to rebuild itself, " Scholz said.
According to him, assistance in the restoration of Ukraine will be discussed at the upcoming G7 summit in Elmau on June 26-28, in which President Volodymyr Zelensky will also participate.
"Ukraine needs a Marshall Plan for reconstruction. At the summit, we need to agree on what such a plan could look like," Scholz said.
The chancellor wants to create a commission of experts together with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to implement this plan.
