"Only the withdrawal by Russia of its forces from the ZNPP will eliminate nuclear threats" - Kislitsa

14:09 24 August Kyiv, Ukraine

On the night of August 24, the UN Security Council, at the initiative of the Russian Federation, held a meeting on the situation at the occupied Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
The representative of the aggressor country from the very beginning spoke about "continuous Ukrainian provocations". The Ukrainian side noted that the Russian Federation thus wants to divert attention from the meeting of the Security Council, at which they will talk about the consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine, which will be held today, August 24.

Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya issued a false statement that the Russian Federation allegedly does not deploy heavy weapons at the ZNPP and does not use it for military purposes. After that, he continued to pour accusations against the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Permanent Representative of Ukraine Serhiy Kislitsa, in turn, said that in order to resolve the issue of the Zaporizhzhya NPP and ensure security at the nuclear facility, it is necessary to withdraw Russian troops and demilitarize the area near the plant.
"The current situation makes it clear that everything that will ultimately eliminate nuclear threats is due to the illegal Russian presence at the nuclear power plant.
