The United States will send additional military assistance to Ukraine in the amount of about $300 million against the background of the approaching Ukrainian counter-offensive.

This was announced on condition of anonymity by US officials, reports Associated Press. We are talking about a huge amount of artillery shells, howitzers, air-to-ground missiles and ammunition.

According to the AP, the new package includes Hydra-70 missiles, which are unguided missiles launched from aircraft. The package also included an undisclosed number of rockets for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems or HIMARS, mortars, howitzer shells, missiles and Carl Gustaf anti-tank rifles.

All weapons will be removed from the Pentagon warehouses so that they can quickly get to the front. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity as the aid had not yet been officially announced.

According to AP, in recent months the United States has refused to announce exactly how much weapons will be sent to Ukraine, but the latest package resembles other previous deliveries. Officials said there would also be trucks, trailers, spare parts and other technical assistance.

This is the 37th Pentagon aid package for Ukraine since the outbreak of the war in February 2022, and the total amount of US military assistance is about $36 billion, journalists say.

Officials said the weapons and other equipment would help Ukraine get out of the situation, which has become a result of heavy fighting in eastern Ukraine, in particular around the town of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region.
