Russia is now looking for opportunities to achieve a "short truce." The occupiers are planning to recuperate. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in an address to the participants of the International Security Forum in Halifax.

"The cessation of war does not in itself guarantee peace.. Russia is now seeking a brief truce, a respite to rebuild strength. Some may call this the end of the war, but such a respite will only aggravate the situation," Zelensky said.

He also rejected any notions of ceding Ukrainian territory or sovereignty in exchange for "peace."

"Immoral compromises will lead to new bloodshed. A truly lasting and frank peace can only be the result of the complete destruction of Russian aggression," the President stressed.

Earlier, adviser to the head of the President's Office, Mikhail Podolyak, said that territorial compromises with Russia would lead to the fact that the war would become an instrument in international relations.. For this reason, Ukraine will not take such a step.

Recall that the White House rejected rumors that the United States is putting pressure on Kyiv over negotiations with the Russian Federation. According to White House national security spokesman John Kirby, only Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky can decide to start peace talks with Russia.
