Russia uses Shahed-136 to penetrate Ukrainian air defense - British intelligence

09:32 24 October Kyiv, Ukraine

British intelligence believes that Russia is using a large number of Iranian Shahed-136 drones to break through Ukrainian air defenses.

This is reported by the British Ministry of Defense.

The ministry noted that Russia continues to use Iranian drones against targets throughout Ukraine, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are increasingly successful in shooting them down.. Official sources, including President Volodymyr Zelensky, claim that up to 85% of attacks are intercepted.

British intelligence noted that kamikaze drones are slow, noisy and fly low, which makes it easy to attack single aircraft with conventional air defenses.
"Russia is likely using a large number of Iranian Shahed-136 UAVs to penetrate the increasingly effective Ukrainian air defenses. He is likely using them as a replacement for Russian-made long-range precision weapons, which are becoming increasingly scarce.
