Energy sector support: European Commissioner for Energy arrives in Kyiv

15:55 01 November Kyiv, Ukraine

International partners should increase support for Ukraine's energy sector. This was stated by the European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, who arrived on November 1 on a visit to Kyiv.
"I'm in Kyiv today to help increase support for Ukraine's energy sector. Ukraine's energy infrastructure is under targeted attack from Russia - a brutal and inhumane tactic to cause human suffering as winter approaches," Simson tweeted.
According to her, the European Union stands next to Ukraine to help until Ukraine wins.
“I have seen with my own eyes the scale of destruction in Ukraine, and I am doing my best to increase financial, technical and practical assistance. This must come from the EU institutions, Member States, our international partners and private donors,” added the European Commissioner for Energy.
On the eve, Simson said that the EU is ready to supply Ukraine with electricity in case of a shortage.
“We have the necessary prerequisites for the EU to supply electricity to Ukraine. The first step was taken back in March, when we synchronized the Ukrainian power grid with the continental European grid two weeks later, which many doubted, ” Simson said.
