Since the beginning of the full-scale war with Russia, the overall crime rate in Ukraine has fallen, but in the coming months it may rise due to the crisis. This was stated on the air of the telethon by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky.

According to Monastyrsky, in the first months of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the level of crime in almost all categories fell by half, but a completely new category appeared - war crimes. Also, because of the war, there is an increase in serious and especially serious crimes due to the actions of the Russian occupiers.

"The fall is an objective phenomenon in connection with the onset of the crisis. We also expect that within two to five months there will be an increase, especially for certain categories of crimes. First of all, we are talking about theft. Obviously, when the economy falls, the number of such crimes increases," the Interior Minister said.

Monastyrsky also expects an increase in the number of vehicle thefts and crimes related to the illegal circulation of weapons.

Recall, the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted a survey of citizens in the Diya mobile application regarding the carrying of firearms.
