In Russia, they will deprive acquired citizenship for "discrediting the army"

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the deprivation of acquired citizenship for a number of crimes, including "discrediting" the Russian armed forces, "desertion", calls to violate the territorial integrity of Russia and "extremism".

This was reported by the press service of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation.

The law provides that citizenship of the Russian Federation can be terminated in the event of a voluntary expression of the will of a citizen, as well as if the facts of providing them with false documents or knowingly false data are established. In addition, citizenship can be deprived of citizenship for "discrediting" the armed forces of the Russian Federation, "desertion", calls to violate the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation, "extremism", "violation of the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation", "calls for the introduction of restrictive measures against the Russian Federation", "rehabilitation of Nazism "etc.

The new version of the law provides that the decision to terminate the acquired, that is, received not by birthright, citizenship of the Russian Federation for the above actions will be taken by the federal executive body in the field of internal affairs or its territorial bodies.

At the same time, those deprived of citizenship on this basis may again apply for admission to the citizenship of the Russian Federation no earlier than three years later.
