Ukraine can help the EU save gas

Ukraine can help Europe save about 5 billion cubic meters of gas annually.

This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Energy Germag Galushchenko during a visit to Brussels on Tuesday, July 26.

"We can sell electricity, we have such capacity, up to 1.5 gigawatts - we can do it right now. This is good for the Ukrainian market, because we have a big price difference. We can get money to maintain our financial liquidity. On the other hand, we can save up to 5 billion cubic meters of gas in Europe: you simply purchase our electricity and do not use Russian gas," the minister explained.

Galushchenko believes that next winter may be the last time Russia allows itself to put pressure on the EU with threats to cut off gas supplies.
