Sunak declared China a threat, but said he was ready to cooperate

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak told Sky News that China is a threat to his country, but he considers it necessary to engage in dialogue with Beijing on global challenges such as climate change and the war in Ukraine.

“I am very clear that China is a systemic challenge to both our values and our interests, and it is the biggest threat to our economic security.. That is why it is right that we take the steps necessary to protect ourselves," he told reporters on the sidelines of the G20 on the Indonesian island of Bali.
Sunak also said he hoped to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the summit.
"If we want to solve big global problems like healthcare, Russia and Ukraine, global economic recovery or climate change, it's important to have a dialogue and engage with China, " Sunak said.
Recall, on November 14, US President Joe Biden and Xi Jinping met on the sidelines of the G20 leaders' summit.. Both politicians called for a reduction in tensions between the world's largest economies.
