United States imposes new sanctions against Russia - Treasury

The United States imposed sanctions against Russia for the annexation of the occupied territories of Ukraine.

"We won't stand by while Putin tricks him into annexing parts of Ukraine.. The Treasury and the US government are taking drastic action today to further weaken Russia's already degraded military-industrial complex and undermine its ability to wage illegal war," Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said.

It is noted that 14 representatives of the Russian military-industrial complex, including international suppliers, three key leaders of the financial infrastructure, relatives of some officials and 278 members of the State Duma, fell under the sanctions.

Among them are relatives of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, wife and son of Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina and her deputies, Russian deputy Valentina Tereshkova and others.

In addition, visa sanctions are being introduced against Russian citizen Ochur-Suge Mongush for torturing a Ukrainian prisoner.

57 organizations were also added to the sanctions list for violating US export control rules.. Among them is the US-Russian company Radioavtomatika, which specializes in procurement for the defense industry, and its leadership in the person of Vladimir Ivanov, Sergey Byzov and Dmitry Galin.

In general, the US State Department imposes visa restrictions against 910 people, in particular, military personnel from the Russian Federation, Belarus and Russian proxy formations.
