At the port of the Italian city of Gioia Tauro in the Calabria region, law enforcement agencies successfully seized 2.7 tons of cocaine.

The discovery of the drugs was made possible by the involvement of a sniffer dog named Joel, who helped identify banana containers that contained packets of cocaine.

These containers, coming from Ecuador and destined for shipment to Armenia through the Georgian port of Batumi, were subjected to detailed scanning by the customs department.

The total value of seized cocaine on the black market is estimated at around 800 million euros.
