Voting begins in Kazakhstan today

In Kazakhstan, polling stations began to open for presidential elections. There are six candidates in total. On Sunday, November 20, reports Іnformburo.kz.

These elections are early. At the same time, elections are held according to a new system - the president is elected for seven years without the right to re-election.

50% of the votes are required to win the 1st round, there is no turnout threshold. This time, the ballot papers included the column "against all."

There are six candidates running for the presidency:

  • Karakat Abden, Public Activist, National Alliance of Professional Social Workers;
  • Nurlan Auesbaev, opposition OSDP;
  • Zhiguli Dairabaev, Auyl party, head of the association of farmers of the republic;
  • Meiram Kazhyken, Commonwealth of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan Amanat, economist;
  • Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Public Coalition;
  • Saltanat Tursynbekova, human rights activist, NGO Kazakh analary - dasturge zhol.

In total, 10,101 polling stations will be involved in the elections throughout the country, 11,950,485 citizens are included in the voter lists. Under the representations of Kazakhstan in 53 countries, 68 polling stations have been established.
