Samsung to ditch the letter "Z" in its new foldable smartphones

19:59 03 August Kyiv, Ukraine

Samsung removed the letter "Z" from the names of its smartphones, so as not to associate the brand with the Russian war against Ukraine. We are talking about smartphones with a folding screen.
If before the devices were called Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3, now they are just Galaxy Fold3 and Galaxy Flip3, the letter will also not be printed on the boxes. So far, the new names have been spotted on the official Samsung websites in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
It was this designation that was applied to Russian equipment that invaded Ukraine, but, fortunately, most of it has already turned into scrap metal.

However, the symbol itself is now on the undesirable list, so global brands change their logos if they look like the Russian swastika.

That said, these same foldable smartphones are still sold as the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 in most Western markets such as the US and Latin America.
