Russia has not received permission to legally sell the iPhone 14 - media

11:35 20 September Kyiv, Ukraine

The Russian Association of Trading Companies and Producers of Electrical Household and Computer Equipment (RATEK) stated that new phones cannot be legally circulated on the Russian market without special permissions.

It is reported by RosSMI.

The association indicates that retailers can sell phones if they have certificates, declarations and a special notification on the characteristics of encryption (cryptographic) means and goods of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) or the conclusion of the Center for Licensing, Certification and Protection of State Secrets of the FSB.

A RATEK representative said that he was not aware that someone in Russia or the EAEU received all the necessary documents to sell the iPhone 14.

The publication also noted that the Unified Register of Notifications of the EAEU does not mention that the new iPhone models issued such a document.

But pre-orders for the iPhone 14 in Russia were accepted by the MTS and M.Video networks, and Beeline, Wildberries, Yandex.Market and Ozon were also preparing for the sale of iPhones.

M.Video-Eldorado announced that they plan to receive a notification for the iPhone 14 and other devices. Wildberries said that iPhone sales will begin in early October. The rest of the networks declined to comment.
