The Belarusian Defense Ministry said that the country's troops, together with the Russian army, "are ready to defend the Union State."

This was announced on Thursday, October 6, by Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin at a briefing, Belarusian media write.

Khrenin said that allegedly the West is preparing armed groups on the territory of Ukraine, the purpose of which is to "overthrow the authorities in Belarus".

"It is impossible to exclude the emergence of a real threat of inciting an internal conflict in Belarus with further external interference in its resolution by the West, from the territory of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Ukraine," the minister said.

According to him, in such conditions, the policy of Belarus is aimed at “countering modern military threats”.

"The regional grouping of troops and forces of Belarus and Russia is ready to deploy and carry out tasks for the armed protection of the Union State. Military command and control bodies at all levels systematically conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current situation on our borders. Variants of an adequate response to its changes are also being produced," Khrenin said.
