Transaction security company Thales left the Russian market

The French company Thales, which provided protection for payment transactions and verification of PIN codes on cards of 20 largest Russian banks, curtailed its work.
A representative of the company told Forbes about the decision of the company to leave the Russian market.
Thales supplied payShield 9000 modules to Russia, devices designed for ATMs that protect and encrypt user data. The module provides protection for such operations as verification of PIN codes, payment transactions, issuance of payment cards, as well as the management of encryption keys. payShield 9000 is the world's most popular payment system security module, handling more than 80% of the world's payment card transactions.

The representative of the company did not disclose the names of the banks, however, according to the data on the public procurement website of the Russian Federation, from 2014 to 2021 competitions for the supply and license of Thales modules and software were announced by Sberbank, VTB, Rosselkhozbank, the All-Russian Regional Development Bank (RRDB) and the West Siberian Commercial Bank , as well as Alfa-Bank.
