The Moldovan authorities are considering the possibility of revoking citizenship from residents of Transnistria, who have dual citizenship - Russian and Moldovan, if facts of their participation in the war against Ukraine are revealed.

On Monday, September 26, President of Moldova Maia Sandu said at a briefing following the meeting of the Supreme Security Council.
"There is a risk of mobilization of Moldovan citizens in the eastern regions of Moldova (unrecognized Transnistria - ed.). We are considering the possibility of revoking citizenship from citizens who have only Moldovan citizenship and will act in a military conflict on the side of the aggressor, toughening penalties for this," Sandu said.
She added that so far there is no confirmation of information about mobilization in Transnistria, but the authorities warn of punishment for those who will be mobilized and will act on the side of Russia.

Sandu explained that, first of all, the possibility of revoking citizenship from those who have dual citizenship - Russian and Moldovan - is being considered.
