The European Union is calling for dialogue to avoid tensions over US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan.

It is reported by Reuters.

It is noted that the EU is interested in maintaining peace and the status quo in the Taiwan Strait.

"Tensions should be resolved through dialogue. Appropriate communication channels should be maintained to reduce the risk of miscalculations," the EU said.

As the European Commission spokesman said, the EU has a "clear one China policy", recognizing the government of the People's Republic of China as China's sole legitimate government, and pursuing "friendly relations and close cooperation with Taiwan."
