The Ministry of Health has changed the rules for vaccination against COVID-19

15:16 19 September Kyiv, Ukraine

The Ministry of Health allowed the second booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for all adults. The second booster dose should be administered at least 4 months apart after the first booster dose.

According to sanitary doctor Igor Kuzin, the situation with coronavirus disease is now under control, but we need to be prepared for an increase in the incidence. Therefore, the second booster was allowed for everyone, but people with chronic diseases and over 60 are especially advised to get vaccinated.
"Vaccination is now not only about one's own protection, being vaccinated means not creating a burden on hospitals that should save the lives of our military," Kuzin emphasized.
In addition, for children from 5 to 11 years old, vaccination with the COMIRNATY (PFIZER) vaccine was allowed (previously, only children from 12 years old were allowed to be vaccinated). Vaccination will require parental or guardian consent.

The Ministry of Health notes that Ukraine is now waiting for the appropriate vaccine, because the vaccination of children over the age of 5 requires a different dosage than for children over 12 years of age. They promise that this vaccine will be available in Ukraine in the near future.

New vaccination schemes have also been approved. The inactivated CORONOVAC vaccine can now be used as a booster after other vaccines. Previously, vaccinations were recommended to be done with mRNA vaccines.

That is, if a person received a basic course of Comirnaty, Moderna, or any other vaccine, he can receive a booster vaccination (both the first and second) with the CoronoVac vaccine.

We also reduced the time between the basic vaccination course (two vaccinations) and the booster dose. Now the booster can be done 5 months after the completion of the basic course. Previously, this period was at least 6 months.

Adults can now receive a basic course of CoronaVac or Pfizer (two doses) or Janssen (one dose) vaccines.. Almost 5 million doses of the CoronaVac vaccine, about 400 thousand doses of the Pfizer vaccine and 30 thousand of the Janssen vaccine are available in Ukraine.
